Long week

I just noticed that it's been a whole week since I've written anything. I've been reading everyone's blogs, but haven't had the energy or time to write anything down. Chance has been really busy with work (woohoo) but he has not been getting home until 8:30 or 9:00 at night. So I had a single mom week. Boy I don't know how single, working parents do it. I was about to lose my mind between stressful work, snotty teenager stuff, and ornery 5 year old stuff. Next week he will be working in Enid for 3 days, so I have another week of the same. (heavy sigh)

I've still been having rounds with Taylor. She's so defiant and not very respectful at all. In fact, one night last week was so bad, that I actually got to the point that I spanked her. Yes, I spanked my 13 year old who is almost as big as I am. There were a couple of other altercations, but that's what it boiled down to. Never have I lifted a finger towards her (always been Chance's job) but I just simply couldn't let her mouth to me any more. I had had my limit. She sometimes brings up that we treat her differently than Tristan (to get our goat) and so I told her that if he had mouthed to me in the same way, I would've spanked him just as hard. Therefore, they were being treated the same. She finally conceded that she understood the spanking but did not the first two altercations. My hopes and prayers are that things will be much quieter this week and that she will think before she speaks. I know I'm wishing for alot, but one can hope.

We tried really hard to get things ready for Tristan's party this weekend. The rain on Saturday really set us back for getting the pool ready. I had to force myself to go out and shop for that and for clothes for me for commencement. I was gone from 11:30 - 7:00 and I felt like my legs were going to fall off when I got home. I love to shop but it's not always fun when you are soaking wet and trying to do several days worth of shopping into one. I did get my skirt and top, and as a bonus (told Chance it was my mother's day) I got some more slacks and shoes. The shoes were my favorite purchase (I LOVE shopping for shoes) as they were a pair I've been eyeing for several weeks now. They've been on the clearance rack and last time I checked, they were down to $28. It definitely pays to wait... I got them for $5.00!!! Yeah baby. 5 bucks. I was a happy woman. However, I still haven't found the right black sandals for my skirt. I need comfortable yet not too casual shoes for the ceremony. I've been to about 7 different shoe stores and still can't find the right pair. I am so bummed. But I will keep looking. Will probably have to wait until next Sunday since the party is Saturday.

Chance worked so hard today on the yard and on the pool. It was a complete mess and for a while we thought we may not have a pool for Saturday. It's finally drained and cleaned (I'm so lucky to have a hard working husband!) but he found 3 holes in the liner. So now he has to find the time to buy some patches while he is going out of town and fix them when he gets home late at night. I told him I can handle filling the pool, just don't know how to patch it. Those kids are going to freeze as that water will be cold if we don't fill it up soon, but I bet they don't notice. Tristan had a big day helping his daddy in the yard. He kept telling me to run and get the camera so I could take pictures of him helping daddy. I was very busy inside the house, so I didn't get any taken. Although Chance loves working outside with him, he was ready for some peace and quiet. It's hard to work and keep the little one out of the stuff he shouldn't get into. He's relaxing now, playing football on the computer. I don't know how he's still awake.

I took Friday off to have a day of peace and quiet. I had hoped to do some work, but here I am at 10:30 at night on Sunday and not one bit of it done. I will regret it I'm sure. (I say that every Sunday don't I?) Maybe I can get some done before I go to bed. I would prefer to open my book I got at the library today...it's the third in a trilogy. This is hard to ponder. Which do you think will win?
